Rising indie rock band Icarus Phoenix is thrilled to announce the release of their latest single, “Agradecido,” available now on all major streaming platforms. This heartfelt track serves as a melodic tribute to the power of gratitude, inspiring listeners to reflect on the blessings in their lives and cherish the moments of joy and connection.
“Agradecido” (which is Spanish for ‘grateful’) is an uplifting anthem that seamlessly blends infectious melodies, emotive vocals, and dynamic instrumentation to create a sonic tapestry of warmth and positivity. Through poignant lyrics and soaring melodies, Icarus Phoenix invites listeners to pause, reflect, and find solace in the small moments of grace that surround them each day.
“I’ve always loved the myth of Persephone eating the pomegranate as an explanation for seasons, the trip to the underworld, etc.,” says Drew Danburry. “I had a thought that if I were already dead I’d be extremely grateful to have any little extra experience with my son and that’s how this song was born.”
Having built a cult following after being included on Stereogum’s albums of note for their “Son” EP as well as their DIY tour to Japan/USA in 2024 Icarus Phoenix are preparing to release their fourth studio album in August 2024. Recording it in Provo, Utah at June Audio (Nov 2022) with producer Jed Jones (Post Malone, The Killers) and recruiting the help of longtime friends Jake Bellows of the band Neva Dinova to play additional guitar, Justin Pacheco (bass) and Andrew Young (drums) to help track 40 songs in 3 days. Also featuring additional noise and ambience by Chaz Prymek from the band Lake Mary and Rocky Cordray from the band Teleprom. Written by Drew Danburry in 2021-2022 after divorcing his wife of 13 years and leaving his 8 year old son with her to move across the country amidst a housing crisis.
