Indie Artist Mia Day Released Her Ambitious New Album ‘Hellier, Forever’

A love letter to the alt-rock and grunge sounds of her youth

Following single Severed” and “Mountain Song,” Seattle based indie-rock artist Mia Day just released her ambitious brand new album Hellier, Forever. One of Stereogum’s “Albums Of The Week”, Hellier, Forever is available now across music platforms.

Mia Day’s Pacific Northwest upbringing is reflected in Hellier, Forever, a love letter to the alternative rock and grunge sounds of her youth. With lead single “Severed”, Day pays tribute to the greats of Seattle’s music scene. It’s the grungy, raw music the PNW native grew up with that inspires this track. Angsty and loud, Day emerges from the morass of “Severed” with a guttural scream. Combining evocative vocals and atmospheric instrumentals, “Mountain Song” is a contemporary alternative rock slow burner that strikes a powerful chord with the listener.

Throughout her latest record, Mia Day explores themes such as family turmoil, melancholy, heartbreak, and coming of age. Hellier, Forever emphasizes the need to define oneself not based on their past, but on their present. The album’s compositions and narratives illustrate the growing pains associated with a transition from childhood to adulthood.

The majority of Hellier, Forever was recorded at Downman Sounds in New Orleans, Louisiana, throughout March and April of 2023.
