LUCINDA WILLIAMS

Country Rock Great Lucinda Williams to Cover The Beatles With Her Own Abbey Road Album

Back with her tribute album series

Back in 2020, country rock great Lucinda Williams launched a tribute album series titled Lu’s Jukebox. The series had a great start, and Williams released cover albums dedicated to Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, and others.

Unfortunately at the end of that year, Williams suffered a stroke,  from which it took her months to recover. Still, Williams recovered and after her recent album of own songs (2023), she is set to continue her Jukebox series, this time covering The Beatles.

Titled Lucinda Williams Sings The Beatles From Abbey Road, Williams recorded the album at the London studio of the same name, and her version includes 11 songs by The Beatles, including songs that appeared elsewhere in The Beatles catalog.

Lucinda Gayl Williams (born January 26, 1953) is an American singer-songwriter and a solo guitarist whose commercial breakthrough came in 1998 with Car Wheels on a Gravel Road; an album presenting a broader scope of songs that fused rock, blues, country and Americana into a distinctive style that remained consistent and commercial in sound.

One of the most celebrated singer-songwriters of her generation, ranked No. 91 on Rolling Stone‘s 100 Greatest Country Artists of All Time, and placed two albums (Car Wheels on a Gravel Road and Lucinda Williams) on their 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list.

You can pre-order the album here.
