Modern pop artist and producer BAYEM shares his new sun-soaked single + video, “Malibu.” The infectious, grooving pop track blends shimmering production with heartfelt lyrics, detailing the sunny feeling that ignites when making a deep and unexpected connection with someone.
“‘Malibu’ is a track about the glow we feel when we’ve found that connection,” Bayem explains. “Not just a flutter of seeing someone attractive, but the warmth that comes from vibing with someone special. ‘Malibu’ was chosen as the comparison because standing on El Matador Beach as the sun sets feels like one of those wonders that reconnects you with your humanity.”
“Malibu” comes off BAYEM’s upcoming new EP TAPE 3, set for release on December 14. Written and recorded with Owen Thomas (Kishi Bashi, Dream Chief, The Band Perry) and mixed by Geoff Swan (Charli XCX, Caroline Polachek, Billie Eilish), the collection of sonically expansive tracks across the new project make for a bold addition to his multi-million-number streaming catalog.
After making his performance debut in Los Angeles this fall, BAYEM will be performing an EP release show in Indianapolis on December 14. He recently performed a sold out, two-week residency at the famed club Lo-Fi Lounge, solidifying him as one of the most sought-after artists that the city has recently generated. He’ll make his return to his hometown with a show at the Hi-Fi in celebration of the release of his new EP. Tickets are available here.
25 year old BAYEM hails from Indianapolis. Raised in a musical family, he was exposed at an early age to underground house, acid jazz, neo soul, and mainstream music. His songs interpret this diverse well of influence in a wholly unique way, with his raw perspective on life and culture being aptly manifested in his fresh lyrical depth and undeniable hooks.
