Beloved Artist K.Flay Revisits Her Music on New EP ‘I’m Making Friends With The Silence’

Reimagining tracks from her album 'MONO'

Multi-platinum and 2x GRAMMY-nominee K.Flay’s new EP I’m Making Friends With The Silence is out now via Giant Music. The release features six tracks from her acclaimed 2023 full-length studio album MONO that were reimagined and re-recorded with a more reflective, stripped-back sound that invites listeners into an intimate sonic experience.

The idea to revisit these album tracks came shortly after K.Flay found herself struggling to listen to loud music due to her single sided deafness coupled with severe tinnitus. In search of a new approach, she collaborated with producer Lonas in Nashville to rework and re-record the tracks with a restrained, yet profoundly emotive, touch, focusing on intimacy, subtlety, and the power of simplicity.

K.Flay will be out in 2025 on her highly anticipated North American headline tour, kicking off on February 24, 2025, in Sacramento at the Ace of Spades and culminating on March 29 at the Belasco in Los Angeles.

I’m Making Friends With The Silence delivers an introspective journey through reimagined tracks that blend K.Flay’s signature lyrical depth with a gentler, contemplative soundscape.

Born Kristine Flaherty, K.Flay started rapping and writing songs on a lark while attending Stanford University and soon began releasing her self-produced mixtapes. In 2017 she released her major label debut Ever Where Is Some Where that featured the iconic smash “Blood in the Cut” and propelled her to arenas around the world. As a songwriter, musician, and producer, she’s lent her talents to numerous collaborations, working with Fitz and the Tantrums, Bishop Briggs, Tom Morello, Kaskade, grandson, The Regrettes, and more. Whether working on her own music or with others, K.Flay’s output remains rooted in her undeniable lyrical skills, an element she attributes to her innate love of language and its infinite possibilities.
