On Saturday, the official Twitter/X account confirmed that the upcoming Shaman King Yard (SKY) manga will serve as the final arc for Hiroyuki Takei’s iconic Shaman King franchise. The new arc is currently in full production.
This announcement comes shortly after the conclusion of the latest Shaman King manga arc, Shaman King The Super Star, which ended on November 23, 2023. Kodansha will release the 10th and final volume of The Super Star on January 8, 2024, wrapping up this chapter of the Shaman King saga.
The Super Star began its journey in May 2018 in Shonen Magazine Edge and ran for several years, albeit irregularly, with numerous breaks. When the magazine ceased publication in October 2023, the manga moved to Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket app.
Shaman King
The original Shaman King manga made its debut in 1998 in Weekly Shonen Jump. While its initial run ended abruptly in 2004, fans were treated to a “true ending” in a 2009 reprint. Since then, creator Hiroyuki Takei has expanded the universe with spin-offs like Shaman King 0 (2011) and Shaman King Flowers (2012–2014).
The series gained further popularity with its anime adaptations. The first anime aired in 2001, and a reboot premiered in April 2021, offering a complete adaptation of all 35 volumes of the original manga. Netflix began streaming the new anime worldwide in August 2022, and the show concluded with 52 episodes.
Final Arc
Shaman King Yard will conclude the series after decades of storytelling. Fans can expect more announcements soon as the production progresses.
For those wanting to dive into the world of Shaman King, English versions of the manga are available. Viz Media initially published the series, and Kodansha USA now releases digital editions, including The Super Star.
