Songwriter and singer Patrick Ames is not an unknown quantity to readers of LLF, and it seems that his subdued, jazz-tinged take on Americana is slowly picking up listeners.

And it definitely should, as his latest single. “Somehow I’ll Find A Way” simply confirms all the qualities he has previously shown.

Ames and his long-time collaborator Jon Ireson go tongue-in-cheek this time around, coming up with a song that talks about a songwriter writing a song about quitting songwriting while driving home from a gig he just quit.

They couple the thought with Ames’ signature jazzed-up Americana and Ames’ raspy, but melodic vocals.

Still, if the music side of things doesn’t work out (although it should) he has his technical book publishing and wine-making as backups, which seem to be working fine for him. The music should too.
