ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND RECORDING COMPANY

One of Allman Brothers’ Legendary Live Albums Headed for a Reissue

'Syria Mosque' Concert to be released on vinyl for Record Store Day

The Allman Brothers Band will have a special vinyl reissue for the upcoming Record Store Day, April 22, 2023. It will be Syria Mosque: Pittsburgh, PA January 17, 1971, as a special numbered limited edition “Pittsburgh Steel Grey.”

As the Live For Live Music site notes, the 2-LP package is limited to 10,000 units and features a legendary concert that was recently restored, remastered, and released on CD and digital in October 2022, after circulating among fans for decades on dubbed cassettes, burned CDs, and even bootleg vinyl disks.

Now the iconic performance captured less than two years into the band’s storied career and two months before the recording of the group’s definitive live album At Fillmore East, will be officially released on vinyl for the first time.

The newly remastered live recording features The Allman Brothers Band’s founding lineup of Duane Allman, Gregg Allman, Dickey Betts, Berry Oakley, Butch Trucks, and Jaimoe, who had already developed a reputation with their improvisation-heavy performances by the time they arrived at Pittsburgh’s 3,700-seat Syria Mosque in January 1971.
