These days it is quite hard to raise the eyebrows of any part of the audience with your single and/or video. But Rhode Island/New York musician/conceptual artist Jenn Vix will certainly do so with her latest single (and particularly its video version “Mr. Strange.”

Vix herself is a multi-instrumentalist, adept at bass, lead guitar, synth, programming and vocals. She has so far collaborated with the likes of The Cure, David Bowie, and many others.

Even if you just take into consideration the music featured in the single, Vix goes left-field, as it combines electro-pop with trap. Yet it is the lyrics and the images that portray them that will probably be a bone of contention for many, as Vix goes on to describe female experiences with a male blow-up doll.

“Alone in the night, nothing felt right, then he arrived in a cardboard box. His plastic skin, sinking in, sinking in, takes me away from reality. Mr. Strange, Mr. Strange, we’ve got a thing, we’ve got a thing. Honey watch me slippin’! Mr. Strange, Mr. Strange, oh you’re so debonair. Your cold fingers in my hair.” – Jenn Vix (“Mr Strange”).

The effect though is both intriguing, attention-grabbing and above all, listenable.
