Evolution Music Are Preparing the World’s First Bioplastic Vinyl Record

To be revealed at this year's Music Declares Emergency's 'Turn Up the Volume'

Evolution Music company will present the world’s first bioplastic vinyl record during the Turn Up The Volume 2022 week, which runs from 19 to 24 April 2022.

As Line of Best Fit reports, Evolution Music has been researching and developing the project for two years with help from music and sustainability experts, and is described in a press release as “a more sustainable lower-impact solution to the toxic impacts of producing PVC vinyl.”

According to the press release, National Physical Laboratory ran some initial tests and concluded that the bioplastic formula does not alter the listening experience, and has “improved anti-static properties.”

Evolution Music will officially launch the bioplastic LP this summer with a crowdfunding campaign to help fund resources.

According to Marc Carey of  Evolution Music, “We see this product as the first in a new wave of solutions that will help to address some of the most important issues of our time. Having support and advocacy from leaders in the music industry, particularly those at the forefront tackling environmental and social issues, proves there’s a serious demand to move things forward, to turn around the huge impacts of the music industry, and quickly.”

Fay Milton of Music Declares Emergency added, “Artists will be extremely keen to use Evolution Music’s bioplastic for their physical products, it’s a no-brainer, why use fossil fuel-based products when you can now simply choose not to? It feels like the Evolution Music team have quietly just created a revolution.”
