Available for 24-hours exclusively on LIVING LIFE FEARLESS we’re stoked to present you New York singer/songwriter Jenny Newman’s latest single “Danish Boy.” The track is an uplifting indie-pop composition consisting of a funky bassline, warm synths, and a playful drum beat. It tells the true story of Jenny’s teenage romance with a Danish foreign exchange student, and the movie-like adventures she had with him.
“I wanted the vibe of ‘Danish Boy’ to make people feel the same genuine happiness and excitement for life that the relationship gave me. It’s kind of a time capsule of young love and blissful naivete.”
The purpose of Jenny Newman’s songs is to storytell the peculiarity of life’s coincidences, adversities, and pleasures. To her, music has always been a means to express her brain’s spider web of thoughts and emotions, as well as therapy when times got tough. Her sound is described as a kaleidoscope of alternative, grunge, and indie pop.
Eventually relocating to Southern California for college, she met Producer Adam Castilla of The Colourist through a mutual friend and the musical chemistry immediately lit a powerful flame.
“After I had met Adam we hadn’t spoken for a chunk of time because I was trying to finish my degree. A weird coincidence happened my senior year of college when my friends and I rented a house that just so happened to be exactly next door to Adam’s house, and this was not planned whatsoever,” she recalls. “When the pandemic hit and I no longer had a busy schedule, I realized this was my chance to bring my songs to life with him. Together, we went through the pages of my journals and bonded over our weird life stories. Music saved us both during such a scary time.”
“Danish Boy” puts on full display her ability to fuses together meaningful songwriting and groovy melodies. Newman’s debut ep Daydream is set to release in October 2022.
