Ultra Music Festival is airing a “Virtual Audio Festival” in this time of social distancing
Sirius XM and Ultra Music Festival have partnered up to create a new experience
Digital Music News (DMN) reports that Sirius XM and Ultra Music Festival have partnered up to create a new virtual audio festival experience.
The Ultra Virtual Audio Festival will start on UMF Radio this Friday, March 20. It is a limited-run radio channel with exclusive DJ sets from many of the artists booked for Ultra Miami. DJ sets include Afrojack, Martin Garrix, Armin van Buuren, Major Lazer, and many more.
According to SiriusXM President Scott Greenstein, the Ultra Music Festival virtual experience is ‘necessary.’
“With the need for social distancing, we know our listeners are seeking a sense of community more than ever,” he said in a statement. “To encourage that, we are pleased to be working with Ultra Music Festival to provide our listeners with this virtual audio festival featuring the diverse lineup of artists the UMF delivers year after year.”
DMN also adds that SiriusXM’s UMF Radio station will also broadcast past live sets from UMF – The Chainsmokers, Kygo, Zedd, and more. The festival will be broadcast on Sirius channel 52 and will last from March 20 to March 23.
On the other side of the musical spectrum, to help musicians who are staying home, Moog and Korg have released their synthesizer apps for free. Moog’s Minimoog Model D iOS app and Korg’s iKaossilator app for iOS and Android are available for free for a limited time.
Moog called the release “a gift to spread positivity” and Korg specifically called it something to help occupy the time of people who are currently “self-quarantining & working from home.”
