Trailer Roundup 2/18-3/3

Ava DuVernay has proven herself when it comes to making hard-hitting documentaries, and her latest limited series with Netflix, When They See Us, looks to continue that with a tough look at the real life, fucked up case of the Central Park Five. The haunting soundtrack and incredible transitions of the trailer set the tone already. As much as we’d not like to, it’s almost impossible not to talk about the upcoming HBO Leaving Neverland documentary that’s been getting buzz for all of the wrong things. Will it do to Michael Jackson’s legacy what the Surviving R. Kelly did to R. Kelly’s? Only time will tell, but it’s sure to have a lot of people talking. After nearly 25 years of trying, The Man Who Killed Don Quixote has finally been completed and seen the light of day. Although it didn’t quite set the world on fire at its festival premieres, the fact this it’s even a real, tangible thing is a miracle all unto itself, and no matter how it turns out, it certainly looks like a trip and well worth a watch when it finally makes it stateside.

As if there weren’t enough biopics already, Motley Crue throw their hat into the ring with Netflix’s The Dirt. Much like recent releases it doesn’t look like much more than a self-gratifying celebration of their excess and doesn’t really interest because of that, but, seeing Machine Gun Kelly in his first major acting role piques the interest just a bit more. Nowadays, the curiosity of seeing Mel Gibson back on screen seems to trump any ill will he’s kicked up, and I’d be lying if the prospect of seeing him team up with Vince Vaughn for a neo-noir crime thriller didn’t have my interest. Not to mention the fact that it’s directed by the man behind Bone Tomahawk and not to mention that’s it’s been stirring up its fair share of strong opinions, then Dragged Across Concrete appears too good to pass up on. Even if Mel Gibson is still a major ass.

Check out everything I rounded up below and let me know which ones were your favorites.
