Gerald Sheffield : “Democratic Paradox” | New Release Gallery

New Release Gallery presents Gerald Sheffield’s first solo exhibition in New York, Democratic Paradox.

In the artist’s words: “I wanted to show work representing very familiar ways migrants/brown people labor is depended on for the ideals of democracy yet there’s a paradox to who gets to claim rights and entitlement to political citizenship. I wanted to represent complimentary images from my experience in Iraq with that of national dialogue around migrant labor and the Muslim ban and xenophobia. To me, America exports anti-blacks throughout the global south.”

Exhibition: January 19th-February 16th
