Of course Weezer would do an album full of covers, and of course they’d do a cover of “Take On Me”, and of course they’d make a video for it, and of course they’d have Stranger Things‘ Finn Wolfhard covering that cover in said video. It’s all par for course for the penultimate dad band. The thought never really crossed our minds, but a Lauv & Troye Sivan pairing actually makes perfect sense as they have similar musical sensibilities and “i’m so tired…” is a great example of that. It keeps with those same teenage pop tropes they’ve both been associated with, all the way down to the retro, washed out, ’80s teen movie inspired visuals. An enjoyable, albeit predictable, offering from the two. Camila Cabello isn’t the only Fifth Harmony member to find success post-group; Normani has been making serious waves (pun totally intended) over the past year, working with all manner of big name acts and doing so without ever being overshadowed. This time she’s back with her own single and everything from her effortless vocals to her presence on screen screams of a new solo star in the making.
2018 was a massive year for soundtracks and Mike WiLL Made-It has been steadily pushing his own contribution to that wave. “Kill ‘Em With Success” is the latest song off that Creed II album to get the visual treatment, and we’ve gotta say, we like this song a whole lot more thanks to the video. We love the mix of aesthetics and the energy is absolutely off the charts. Having already gotten solo offerings from Takeoff and Quavo, it was only a matter of time before Offset stepped up to the plate. And with the release of the official video for “Red Room,” we’d say the project’s coming sooner than later. The song isn’t a chart-topper but it is a banger that has us interested to see what else he has cooked up for us. The video, paired with the song’s messaging, takes us through his life in a more introspective way than one would expect, so we could be pleasantly surprised.
