Major Moment’s “Leave out all the Rest” is a haunting cover of Linkin Park’s eponymous song that pays tribute to Chester and everyone who struggles with mental illness in the most Chester way possible – by letting the darkness pour out in the form of poignantly raw and unbridled singing.
As if the cover, especially now, wasn’t evocative enough in itself, it breathes new life into “Leave Out All the Rest” and its message by giving all proceeds to the 320 Changes Direction foundation which was founded by Chester’s wife after her husband’s death.
The video also captures the feel of “Leave Out All the Rest” and the style of Linkin Park altogether, focusing on the musicians and their unadulterated expression of the music. Simplistic, but stylish, with masterful use of contrasts to give the imagery depth and perhaps allude to the idea of the battle between the light and the dark, the video is everything it needs to be – tastefully solemn and restrained, with nothing over the top, letting the music speak for itself above all else.
A haunting tribute for a great cause that will likely stir some emotions, but ones that are definitely better stirred than left unvoiced.
