Robert Downey Jr. explains artificial intelligence in a new YouTube Originals series

The eight-episode series is now available to watch for free

After more than a year after its announcement, The Age of A.I., the YouTube “Originals” series with Robert Downey Jr. as the host is finally available to watch. As Endgadget notes, Google has recently announced that YouTube Originals can be watched for free even without its premium subscription. It is available on YouTube’s Learning channel.

In the initial episode titled “How Far is Too Far?” Downey Jr. presents Mark Sagar, CEO of Soul Machines. Sagar is also “a special effects artist who worked on films like King Kong and Avatar who is using his expertise in animating faces to create an AI-animated digital avatar for the Black Eyed Peas’ will.i.am.”

The second episode of the series has also been announced. It presents Project Euphonia, a speech assistance tool Google showed off at I/O 2019. “This episode features former NFL linebacker Tim Shaw who has ALS and difficulty moving and speaking as a result of his condition.” The viewers will be able to see a prototype of Euphonia in action, and Shaw helps Google record voice samples for the AI to try and interpret his speech. More broadly, the episode explores how AI is changing healthcare.”

Another series that will appear on YouTube’s Learning Channel is Creators for Change series, which will feature former first lady Michelle Obama in its first episode.
