Video Roundup 12/31/17

Video Roundup 12/31-1/6

New year, new videos (minus the one day for continuity purposes), and while there’s not a ton worth writing home about, we did finally get the official return of Justin Timberlake with his first single “Filthy.” The sound is definitely more “SexyBack” than “Suit & Tie” and I’m ok with that as there’s a real nice groove to it. Although the video and song in question are about as non-filthy as you can think of. I mean, Steve Jobs isn’t exactly what comes to mind when you hear the word filthy. Bruno Mars continues to absolutely murder the music video game with the ’90s, In Living Color, inspired video for his very ’90s-esque song “Finesse.” Oh man, those nostalgic feels are hitting hard on this one. Also, I thinks it’s safe to say that Cardi B is officially a thing now and not just a song. KAMI sticks with the lo-fi visuals as he releases his latest video for “Payload” and it’s pure Chicago (not Chiraq) turnup material.

Jay-Z continues to follow in his wifey’s footsteps by turning 4:44 and it’s songs into a full blown visual album. This time for “Family Feud” and complete with appearances from Michael B. Jordan, Omari Hardwick, Thandie Newton, Jessica Chastain, Brie Larson, Rashida Jones, Rosario Dawson, and a host of stars and mega-stars. The impressive cast is matched by the impressive tale it’s able to pack into a matter of minutes. President Blu Ivy 2050?
