Ellie Goulding, Diplo, and Swae Lee sounds like a fictional collaboration but Goulding made it a reality for her first original song in nearly two years, and somehow it’s a pairing that works extremely well and one we could see making its rounds towards the top of the charts. The video is as much about the extravagant wardrobes as it is about the actual music. Ever since Hozier’s massive hit, “Take Me to Church”, and his subsequent debut album, he’s been relatively quiet on the music front. But with his new single, “Movement”, he’s understandably tried to tap into that same vein again, even employing the viral the ballet dancer who helped bring that first single further to life, for this new video. Not quite as powerful as that one but still hauntingly beautiful thanks to his still powerful vocals and the dancing really brings out the emotion of the song. Foster the People delivered an unexpectedly creative video for their latest, bounce heavy, feel good song, “Worst Nites”, and managed to deliver a strong message about not conforming to society’s expectations while still managing to keep the mood light. It’s good times all around.
Asher Roth’s musical career certainly hasn’t taken the trajectory many people expected it would after he first burst onto the scene, but he’s always had a great knack at capturing those indie feel good vibes when it came to his raps and his latest, “Mommydog”, is the epitome of that. It’s hard not to think that life’s not so bad after giving it a watch. A perfect song and video to get into the Thanksgiving mood. J. Cole has kept surprisingly busy this year and out of all of his surprising guest features thus far, this one with Moneybagg Yo might be at the top of the list. We don’t see him tackle this style of rap often but when he does, it’s always dope. It will definitely open them both up to audiences who normally wouldn’t give either the time of day.
