Ty Segall is a musical machine and his unrelenting work rate is impressive to say the least. Back with yet another project for 2018 he finds himself teaming up with White Fence, who I’m not real familiar with but with whom he has a clear synergy with as they bounce off one another through Joy’s 15 tracks. Like most of Ty Segall’s projects, there’s a layer of dust that lays on his songs that give them all this homemade feel and quality that lends his music a feel of authenticity that can’t be replicated. The album as a whole feels made up of big contrasts – extremely low moments followed by extremely high moments, dueling instrumentals and vocal harmony, and vice-versa. It’s about as psychedelic and experimental as rock gets, with every track bringing it’s own feel and vibes to the proceedings, but because of its intention, things don’t feel convoluted, they just feel like one wild trip (which I’m assuming is the point). Joy is not a ‘clean’ project that’s easy to listen to or follow along with, but, it is a hell of an (albeit chaotic) experience that delivers some great psychedelic rock.

Deerhunter - Double Dream of Spring Reaction | Reactions | LIVING LIFE FEARLESS
Deerhunter have crafted an ambiguous collection of songs that serves as art as much as it does as music. "Double Dream of Spring" is intentionally ambiguous and avant-garde, and there's some great experimental stuff here but it's definitely not for everyone.

Arctic Monkeys - Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino Reaction | Reactions | LIVING LIFE FEARLESS
Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino can be best described as hallucinogenic lounge music that's left-field, inventive, and smoldering. A highly unexpected direction from an established band that could've easily played things safe, but instead chose to take major risks that paid off in one of their most exhilarating albums to date.

Ty Segall - Freedom's Goblin | Reactions | LIVING LIFE FEARLESS
Ty Segall pulls out the full arsenal on Freedom's Goblin delivering a 19-track ride that goes all over the place. In lesser hands it might feel disjointed or convoluted but with him it just shows how truly gifted he is and just how in tune he is with the craft of rock. He clearly marches to the sound of his own beat and it's incredibly exhilarating. Freedom's Goblin is one hell of a ride and further proof that he may just be a mad musical genius.
