Travis Scott’s career has been on a steady upward trajectory since his early mixtape days, so the anticipation for ASTROWORLD has been extremely high. To say that he not only met but exceeded those expectations would be a large understatement. Somehow, someway, his already phenomenal and lush production has found a way to be even more lush and phenomenal. The amount of layers in the production here would make even Kanye jealous and whoever engineered and mixed this all (Mike Dean?) is g*ddamn wizard! There’s an almost absurd amount of beat breakdowns and switch ups, but somehow things never feel disjointed; the transitions are natural and the constant switching keeps you on your toes as a listener. Something that his large amount of unlisted features accomplishes as well, due to not only the large amount of features present, but also the star power of it all (they’re instantly recognizable by voice alone). The part I loved most about the album though, was the constant homages he made to old Houston/southern rap whether through samples or snippets laced throughout the album’s entire DNA. Travis Scott finally put together all of the pieces of his immense talent and crafted his most realized project yet. ASTROWORLD is a complete experience from front to back that transports you to a world all of Scott’s own making, and I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon.
'Stay Dangerous' doesn't really elevate his career to any new heights but it doesn't negatively impact it either. It's a YG album full of everything you'd expect from a YG record and it does enough to keep things coasting along.Read full review
It's far from his best tape but it's still high quality mindless music that you can vibe and turn up too. If you're not expecting anything different from Future, then BEASTMODE 2 is right up your alley.Read full review
It’s a good listen (Drake doesn’t put out bad listens), but there’s a whole lot that I like on 'Scorpion' but almost nothing I loved. I don’t think I’ve ever skipped through a Drake project as much as I have here. There’s still quotables for days but you gotta get through a lot of uninspired filler to get to it.Read full review
99, took AstroWorld, it had to relocate
Told the dogs I’d bring it back, it was a seal of faith
Before no car, those baby girls, she played the tourist guide
Got the keys into my city, now she know the rides
Got new money, got new problems, got new enemies
When you make it to the top, it’s the amenities
