Trailer Roundup 10/29-11/11

It’s often overlooked but Netflix has a pretty good collection of documentaries and their ReMastered series is one of their best. It’s always intriguing to see the story behind iconic musical moments and the story of Nixon and Johnny Cash is sure to be one worth checking out. After getting a small glimpse a few weeks back, we now get a much better look at Captive State and what it’s all about, and I’m getting some heavy Red Dawn vibes here, expect of course with literal aliens instead of Soviets or North Koreans. The biggest surprise of it all though is that this isn’t a part of the Cloverfield cine-universe. Andy Serkis’ long talked about pet project Mowgli is finally seeing the light of day despite it finding itself in the unfortunate position of following Disney’s live-action adaptation of the same story, albeit through Netflix instead of a major theatrical release (which I think is a smart move). Though it won’t be seen as as original by many I’m still excited for it, at least for the fact that Serkis is a motion capture genius, and at the most for it’s supposed darker approach.

Will Smith has always seemed reluctant to take on animated roles, and for good reason, Shark Tale was absolutely awful, but he’s taking another crack at it with Spies in Disguise and while it seems kind of ‘meh’, it does look slick. Stop-motion animation is a lost art in films these days but they always hold a special spot in my heart as there’s just a charm to them that you can’t replicate digitally. So whenever I see a new one on the way, it’s almost always a must watch. Missing Link doesn’t look like the best of the bunch but Galifianakis as Big Foot should be good for a laugh or two at least.

Check out everything I rounded up below and let me know which ones you’re most pumped for.
