Dirty Projectors have always been a wildly creative act and that creativity is on full display on their latest project. It’s almost dizzying the rate at which they switch gears from one song to another and even at times within the same song, but yet, somehow, it all generally works – not feeling too disparate, thanks in large part to the general joyous narrative being painted through the entire project. And joyous it is, almost celebratory, with the good vibes kicked up to an 11; it’s hard not to be put into a good mood listening to the project. Things can drag on a bit too long in some parts though, which is my one major gripe, but those inventive vocal arrangements are still some of the best in the game and it always keeps things interesting. Lamp Pit Prose is a bright, airy listen that may go overboard with some of its sappy love proclamations but still remains an infectious and wildly imaginative listen nonetheless.
Now in hindsight the alienation
And all the painful dreams I failed to extinguish
Were the foot lights down dark aisles I’ve taken
Now they’ve led me to you and I’m singing
– “I Found It in U”
