Video Roundup 6/17-6/23

Considering that Chris Brown’s last album had an absurd number of tracks (50+ and counting) it’s really no surprise that he’s still putting forth new videos for the project. “To My Bed” is the next one up and the video for it is his usual fare. Near future, sci-fi tinged visuals, beautiful women, and impressive dance choreography. Nothing spectacular, but another solid effort from the R&B veteran. Ariana Grande teams up Nicki Minaj for her latest hip-hop influenced single. It’s got a definite bounce to it that’s clearly aimed for the dance floors, but the repetitive synths are more grating than infectious. The video is dope though with nice use of lighting and contrasts. That Florence + The Machine album must be quickly approaching cause they’re back with yet another single and video, this time for “Big God.” It’s another powerful song that follows in that lane she’s so good at, and the visuals are great from the choreography to the contrasts between the bright wardrobes and the sea of black they’re performing in. We need that album sooner than later for sure.

Fresh off his BET Awards performance and release of his most talked about project yet, Jay Rock hits us with the video for one of my favorite songs off Redemption“OSOM” is everything we wanted from a J. Cole featured Jay Rock song and the video tells as powerful a narrative as the song itself, it not more, and it hits particularly close to home in light of recent events. Still riding high off his almost unanimously regarded classic, Daytona, and undisputed victory over Drake, Pusha T gives us a highly stylized video for “If You Know You Know” that takes aim at policing in America.

Check out everything I rounded up below and let me know which ones were your favorites.
