The Internet finally make their return with the very funky single, “Roll (Burbank Funk).” Their grooves have been sorely missed over here on this site and their latest offering just makes us want to get up and dance. The visuals are simple and straightforward but there is great use of negative space in the opening minute. Kali Uchis revisits her phenomenal debut with a new set of visuals for “Get Up”, which caught us by surprise seeing as it’s a revised version of what was essentially an interlude on the album, but what the sultry self-directed visuals does is hammer home the fact that she is such a unique, one-of-a-kind type of talent. SZA is still very much eating off her seminal CTRL album and she’s returned with some very Kung-Fu Kenny inspired visuals for her “Doves In The Wind” single which is only fitting seeing as Kendrick is in fact featured on the song. It’s a dope, cinematic set of visuals that continues TDE’s year-plus long streak of not putting out a single bad video.
Rae Sremmurd has just released their next single and video for the Travis Scott assisted “Close” just before their 3-disc project (yes, you read that right) touches down next week. Sonically, the song is pure vibes and the video starts out normal enough before vampires somehow come into play, but the dark visuals match perfectly with the lo-fi atmosphere of the song itself. Holy S*it! I didn’t see this coming. I know as a comedian Kevin Heart should be able to take a joke but the fact that J. Cole got him to appear in the video for his ode to cheating is a legendary move that’s just another ingenious move in what’s been a perfect rollout for KOD. Not to mention that it’s a hilarious video that conveys the message and intention of the song perfectly. Somehow through all of this Kevin Heart is still finding ways to win.
