Travis Scottโs career has been on a steady upward trajectory since his early mixtape days, so the anticipation forย ASTROWORLD has been extremely high. To say that he not only met but exceeded those expectations would be a large understatement. Somehow, someway, his already phenomenal and lush production has found a way to be even more lush and phenomenal. The amount of layers in the production here would make even Kanye jealous and whoever engineered and mixed this all (Mike Dean?) is g*ddamn wizard! Thereโs an almost absurd amount of beat breakdowns and switch ups, but somehow things never feel disjointed; the transitions are natural and the constant switching keeps you on your toes as a listener. Something that his large amount of unlisted features accomplishes as well, due to not only the large amount of features present, but also the star power of it all (theyโre instantly recognizable by voice alone).ย The part I loved most about the album though, was the constant homages he made to old Houston/southern rap whether through samples or snippets laced throughout the albumโs entire DNA. Travis Scott finally put together all of the pieces of his immense talent and crafted his most realized project yet.ย ASTROWORLDย is a complete experience from front to back that transports you to a world all of Scottโs own making, and I donโt plan on leaving anytime soon.
99, took AstroWorld, it had to relocate
Told the dogs Iโd bring it back, it was a seal of faith
Before no car, those baby girls, she played the tourist guide
Got the keys into my city, now she know the rides
Got new money, got new problems, got new enemies
When you make it to the top, itโs the amenitiesโ โStargazingโ
