Trailer Roundup 9/17-9/30

As if I wasn’t already hyped enough for Creed II, then they dropped the even more impactful second trailer. It’s like I’m 99% sure I know how the story ends but they’ve still sold me on the tension and suspense of it all. It could have something to do with the fact that Drago’s kid looks like an absolute monster or the backing DMX track, either way this can’t get here soon enough. Fox looked like they were on a roll after First Class and Days of Future Past, but then came Apocalypse…*sigh*, oh what could’ve (and should’ve) been but woefully wasn’t. The Phoenix Saga is one of the most well known story arcs of all the X-Men runs and they’ve already majorly f*cked it up once, so I’m keeping my expectations real low this go around. Here’s to hoping for a pleasant surprise and that Dark Phoenix is more than just ‘Jennifer Lawrence and friends.’ But from what I’ve seen so far I’m not particularly pumped that it’s good and that Sansa Stark can pull off a convincing Jean Grey. It’s finally here, Marvel’s first female-led superhero feature. It should’ve been Black Widow ages ago but oh well. While the potential of having Captain Marvel in the MCU is undoubtedly epic, I can’t help but feel ‘meh’ about this first trailer. Could just be hero fatigue but I’m going to need to see more to get really pumped about this one. Although, the more Samuel L. Jackson, the better, it’s a scientific fact.

I never would have imagined the career turn that Steve Carell has had over the years. He started off almost as exclusively the idiotic, but loveable goofball but he’s really been showing off some serious acting chops and Beautiful Boy looks like it could be the role to potentially get him an Oscar. Oh and did I mention that this is what happens to Michael Scott and Holly Flax after The Office? In my head, at least. Well that was unnerving. It’s not often just a trailer can make me squirm, but the trailer for Apostle did that and then some. Aside from the general creepiness of cults, religious overtones, and wannabe demi-gods in general, there’s some seriously disturbing imagery at play here. So of course I have to see what it’s all about.

Check out everything I rounded up below and let me know which ones you’re most pumped for.
