For those that don’t know Quality Control is the label out of Atlanta that’s famous for putting on the Migos and Lil Yachty, as well as being headed by the one time manager of both Young Jeezy and Gucci Mane. So say what you want about both of these new acts, there’s no denying that this indie label knows their talent and knows how to make hit acts. Trying to strike while the iron’s the hottest and put on even more of their acts, they’ve hit us with their first compilation project and like with most compilations it’s a highly mixed bag of some truly great and a whole lot of throwaway material. Because in reality their roster isn’t full of a bunch of Migos or Migos-in-the-making, a fact that they seem to know themselves as the project is incredibly Migos heavy – essentially Migos and friends. A smart move on their parts but it did very little to convince that their other acts are worth my attention. If anything, it really just got me even more hyped for Culture 2. Quality Control’s first compilation has some true highlights here but you have to dig through a lot of trash to get to a “Pop Sh*t.”
“I don’t got time for no foolery (who?)
I’m ’bout to go drop on some jewelry (hey!)
I’ma tell you lil niggas somethin’ (lil nigga!)
Fame blowin’ all you niggas’ money (fame!)
Maintain, gotta keep a hunnid comin’ (hoo!)
Ain’t no pain like the name with no money (pain!)”
Have you heard Quality Control: Control the Streets, Vol. 1? What’d you think about it? Are you looking to any other artists outside of the Migos? Let me know in the comments below and be sure to leave your own ratings and reactions to the compilation.
