Despite becoming more and more of a known commodity among music circles, particularly those tuned into R&B/soul, H.E.R. remains perfectly content operating from behind a veil of obscurity and scarcity and letting the music she does let loose speak for itself. It’s a formula that’s worked well for her til this point, in large part due to the high quality of the product itself and it only seems to be getting better over time. She’s emboldened in her artistry and expands her already phenomenal style to new frontiers. The similarities between her and Jorja Smith extend well beyond their shared affinity for Lauryn Hill; their lush music is full of honesty, empowerment, and a hunger for truth and wisdom that seems well beyond their years. If Smith’s debut is anything to go off of, then the expectations for H.E.R.’s long awaited debut are sky high. But until then, I Used To Know Her: The Prelude is a solid, yet short glimpse as to how far she’s developed as an artist and showcases a future star in the making.

The Internet - Hive Mind | Reactions | LIVING LIFE FEARLESS
The Internet are a truly special group that's able to balance their warm nostalgia while still remaining refreshingly modern. 'Hive Mind' is a phenomenal project full of hypnotic grooves and hip-swaying rhythms.

Teyana Taylor - K.T.S.E. (Keep That Same Energy) Reaction | Reactions | LIVING LIFE FEARLESS
'K.T.S.E.' was much more soulful, chilled out, and low key than I would have ever imagined, and while she showed a level of true artistry I never knew she had and Ye's production was generally strong, I went through all 8 tracks still without getting a clear picture of who she was as an artist or a person, and it just didn't make that strong of a statement - despite it being a pleasant listen.

Confusing self-conscious with self-confidence
So you monogamous but body positive
Those pills you swallowing, for a following
What he got to offer? He don’t see the kids that he fathering
If you don’t bother then, why you responding then?
Careful where you plant them seeds, before you water them
