Video Roundup 12/17/17

Video Roundup 12/17-12/23

We’ve got some big name artists dropping new music videos in this weeks roundup, starting with my least favorite song off Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. Don’t get me wrong, I get the appeal and why people (females in particular) love it, it’s just not for me. He works with the same people he worked with on his previous fantastic videos, and it’s once again pitch perfect with great visuals. However, it is the most straightforward visual he’s put out yet. Fellow TDE labelmate, SZA, finally drops her Solange directed video for “The Weekend” and it’s very reminiscent of her visual creations for A Seat at the Table and that’s a very good thing. SZA is a certified star in her own right, now with three Grammy nominations to her name. Fellow Grammy counterpart Rapsody also drops a new fun, feel good video for her Grammy nominated song, “Sassy.” Women really killed it this year and I’m here for all of it.

Eminem officially drops the video for the lead single off of his highly disappointing Revival album (my opinion) and the video does a much better job of conveying the emotion and message in the song, but I still don’t like it. Lastly, Jay-Z liberates not one, but three videos from Tidal for the masses to view. There’s no “Story of O.J.” level here but they’re all still really powerful, especially “Smile”, which is essentially a short film. He’s got my vote for Album of the Year. On a side note, G-Eazy’s “No Limit” will be my anthem for NYE.

Check out everything I rounded up below and let me know which ones were your favorites.
