Video Roundup 12/10-12/16

Fresh off his first ever Grammy nomination(s), Khalid hits us with a new video for one of my favorite songs off of his debut album, “Saved.” It’s a chill vibe and the video captures that vibe with hazy shots, slowed down close ups, and great pops of neon colors. Run the Jewels also got a Grammy nomination (although not the one they should’ve gotten) and they’ve returned with a surreal video for the equally surreal “Call the Trickerton.” They really can do no wrong in my book. Jaden Smith followed up the release of his highly surprising debut (in a good way) with a uncharacteristically subdued video for “George Jeff.” Great use of colors though.

On the smoother side of things, Jennifer Hudson makes her return with a powerful ballad that’s right in her wheel house and as expected, she kills it on the vocal front. Timbaland also makes his return with a co-record with the rapidly rising 6LACK. It’s a smooth, vibe heavy joint that continues to show his immense range as a producer. The game is better with him in it, so it’s good to see him back at it. Lastly, the criminally under-acknowledged duo of Lion Babe hit us with a silky smooth set of visuals that captures the sultry vibe of their previously released “Rockets.” If you’re not familiar with them, you better get familiar. Check out everything I rounded up below and let me know which ones were your favorites.
