I’m proof that it’s not only the music that matters when crafting a project. My anticipation for an album that was never on my radar from a band I never really cared about grew out of nowhere thanks to a pair of fantastic visuals for their lead singles, “The Man” and “Run For Cover.” These things do matter and they’re what brought me to Wonderful Wonderful in the first place.

“I saw my mother on the street last night
All pretty and strong, singing ‘the road is long’
I said ‘Momma I know you’ve tried’
But she fell on her knees and cried”

Now admittedly, I was left more than a bit underwhelmed from the project as a whole. The two aforementioned songs were by and far the best songs off Wonderful Wonderful, with the rest of the album meandering around that average range at best. “The Man” is a 9, “Run For Cover” a 7.5, and the rest of the album between a 5-6, with maybe the exception of the titular track “Wonderful Wonderful,” that still falls well short of the potential it flashed. Nothing on the album stood out to me as particularly terrible but nothing on the album stood out to me at all (aside from the songs I mentioned), which is an even bigger problem in itself. Wonderful Wonderful turned out to be just a slightly above average album that failed to live up to the potential of it’s lead singles.

Have you heard Wonderful Wonderful? What’d you think about it? Do you think it lacked in anything compelling or noteworthy like I did? Let me know in the comments below and be sure to leave your own ratings and reactions for the album.
