I have no idea who Two-9 are outside of the fact that they’re signed to Mike WiLL’s label along with the likes of Rae Sremmurd. I had seen their name in a number of places around the web but I never actually heard a song of theirs. However, I saw they just released their debut album and I figured if nothing else there would at least be some dope production that would be worth my time to check out.

In general, I would say that that was a good assumption to make because there is some really good production on FRVR. Not everything, but enough to warrant a listen. If you know the sound of Mike WiLL and Rae Sremmurd then you’ll have a clear idea of what to expect from their album. It’s that dominant Atlanta trap/turn up sound that you probably hear wayyy too much these days, but with a little more sophistication than normal. There are a few standouts for me like “None of These”, “Rackades”, and “JFK.” “Rackades” has a crazy pitched synth effect that really sets the song a part, “JFK” makes dope use of an electric piano, and “None of These” has a nice chill vibe to it. In general, all of Two-9’s production on FRVR is very strong, it’s just nothing new.

“Gotta make the money like pronto
Gas in the cone, no frontal
Out west for my brother like Tonto
120 on the highway, no Bronco
But I got the juice
I’m living the proof”

As a group I couldn’t tell you about any of their individual members, and they’re really not all that distinct from one another on the songs. No particular verse or moment stood out to me more than another, and outside of some great melodies, what they deliver is merely passable. If I need some purely good sounding turn up music, then this might be an album I’d turn to, but anything other than that, there’s not a whole lot to offer.

Have you heard FRVR by Two-9? What’d you think about it? Did you find anything great other than their production? Let me know in the comments below and be sure to leave your rating for the album.

Conclusion
There's nothing really noteworthy or stand out about Two-9's debut album. There's some expectedly strong production and if I need some purely good sounding turn up music then this might be an album I'd turn to, but anything other than that, there's not a whole lot to offer.
