Trailer Roundup 8/21/17

Trailer Roundup 8/21-9/3

These past couple of weeks have been full of trailers for new, interesting documentaries. Like 78/52 which takes a critical, in-depth look at Hitchcock’s infamous shower scene and examines it’s impact on the film industry and society as a whole. It’s arguably the most iconic scene in cinematography so it should be an interesting one. Then we get some really hard-hitting ones like Romeo Is Bleeding, which examines a spoken word artist’s life and struggle to break away from the violence of his city while adapting Shakespeare for his time and community; and Human Flow which takes a dramatic look at the refugee crisis taking place across the world, directed by legendary director Ai Weiwei. They both look intense watches that will surely tug at the heart strings.

Vince Vaughn returns to that tough-guy, serious role in Brawl In Cell Block 99 and while it looks interesting, I’m still not sold on him in this type of role after the debacle that Season 2 of True Detective. Arnold Schwarzenegger is back in a zany, over the top, action satire that’s actually right up his alley and Takashi Miike is set release his 100th film (which is absolutely insane), Blade of the Immortal, a manga adaptation that looks like it could make Kill Bill blush. If nothing else, it’ll be stylish as f*ck. But the most important and unexpected new trailer to come from this roundup is easily Super Troopers 2. I’m not sure who’s still been asking for a sequel after all this time but I’d like to thank that kind sir/madam. I’m down for some more shenanigans.

Check out everything I rounded up below and let me know which ones were your favorites.

UPDATE I had to go back and include the trailer for You Were Never Really Here. Aside from the fact that it’s been getting loads of praise from the film festival circuit and that it’s look like Joaquin Phoenix turns in yet another stellar performance, I’m really digging the brutal, stylish vibe of the film. Reminds me of something a la Taxi Driver or Drive.
