Trailer Roundup 10/31-11/13

We’ve got some good trailers to spotlight this go around, with some big adaptations like Ghost in the Shell and Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, along with a new trailer for Ben Affleck’s Live by Night, an interesting sci-fi Life, the sequel to a cult classic Trainspotting 2, and even more. Check them all out below and let us know what you’re most excited for in the comments.

Ghost in the Shell

Ok so for those of that don’t know, Ghost in the Shell is widely regarded as one of the greatest manga/anime series ever to be created. I remember watching it on Toonami way back in the day and I’m excited to see how this one turns out. I definitely have my reservations, especially with the casting, but the visuals look spot on and seeing some direct homages to the manga and original movie is a good sign. If you love stuff like Blade Runner (which I do), this is one to check out.

Live by Night

Say what you want about Ben Affleck, but I think the man can direct and act (in the right roles). Seeing what he did with The Town has me fully convinced that this will be another good one to add to his resume. Looks like prohibition lawlessness with just the right amount of Hollywood shine to it.

Solace

I like Colin Farrell and I LOVE Anthony Hopkins, so no matter how painfully cliche this movie looks, I feel I have no choice but to give it a chance. But I won’t be shocked when it’s underwhelming.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets

Remember how I said comic books have taken over? Yeahhhh well we’re only gonna get deeper and deeper cuts. I’ve never heard of this, but apparently it’s based on a famous French science fiction comic. I have absolutely no faith in the casting because I don’t think either lead can act, but Luc Besson is directing and he’s responsible for one of my all-time childhood favorite movies, The Fifth Element. If nothing else, I know the visuals will be crazy.

Life

I’m a sucker for science fiction and space flicks, so this one definitely looks like it’ll scratch that itch for me. The cast is strong and it has some Alien vibes, and that’s always a good thing. Looks like shit will get intense. Sign me up.

Gifted

Captain America looks to be trying to live the normal life these days. Alright, the movie looks sappy as hell and cliche, but I love witty, smart ass kids so it could be alright. I’ll probably forget this even dropped though.

T2: Trainspotting 2

Following up a massive cult classic is never an easy thing to do and more often than not comes up short, but Danny Boyle seems intent on trying to buck that trend. It’s a hard film to get a feel for through trailers but it looks like it has the potential to live up to the high bar set by the first one. I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

La La Land

These two must really like acting together cause I swear this is like the 4th movie I’ve seen them in together. Now musicals aren’t really my thing, but the visuals look dope and having John Legend involved has to mean there’s gotta be some good musical sets in there too.

Nerdland

Patton Oswalt, Paul Rudd, Hannibal Buress, and the producers of Zombieland could make for a pretty funny film. Typical story about a couple losers trying to become famous the quick and easy way, but the art direction is unique and definitely stands out. Also, being animated can lead to some twisted humor you couldn’t pull off otherwise.

That’s all I got for this go around. Which trailers are you most excited for? Did I miss any I should be checking out?  Let me know in the comments below and be sure to subscribe so you can stay up on all the content being released as well as exclusives.
