Life is short. Like CRAZY short if you really think about it. I mean let’s take a look. Worldwide the average life expectancy is 71 years and if you take away all the years where you can barely do anything for yourself, let’s just say 16 & under and 70 & over (realistically 30 & under for a lot of you out there) for arguments sake, and life begins to feel a whole lot shorter right. Way too short to be spending it doing something you hate.
When you’re little the world seems huge, where anything and everything is possible and you have all these huge ideas for your future. But what begins to happen as you grow up is the world force feeds their opinions down your throat slowly suffocating those ideas to the point where you feel you’re left with few options. For every world changing idea someone has there’s always Dick right there giving a thousand reasons why it’s not a good idea and why it won’t work. Well screw Dick! There’s only one reason that matters. Do you love it? I mean really really love it. To the point that you spend more time dreaming about your idea than you do actual work? Then do that. Do what you love until you can physically (or emotionally) no longer continue. Especially when you’re young, because let’s be honest you always have the rest of your life to be miserable.
Who knows what could happen; that’s the beautiful thing about life. Maybe it blows up into the greatest thing the world has ever seen or maybe it blows up in your face and Dick was right (screw that guy). But I don’t believe doing what makes you truly happy is ever a waste.
P.S. I know not everybody can just do what they want and actually have major obligations. Like kids they have to provide for and what not. In which case I’ll keep you in my prayers.
