My First Solo Art Exhibition
In the post, “Art Work”, I introduced myself as an artist and talked about what Art is to me, then I talked about being chosen for two Art exhibits and showed you the Paintings that were displayed. The work shown last time was a collection of paintings that didn’t necessarily relate to each other; This time I’m displaying a specific body of work that was developed to be more cohesive by using similar content, materials, and formal elements.
In the 1st VLOG I created a painting, however this time is a little different. I took a camera to my Exhibit and decided to do a quick interview to give you a different perspective on art shows and my work as well. I’ve just been experimenting with video, and hardly have time to do all that I want to do with it but its been a fun learning experience….So lets check it out! 🙂

A lot goes into putting on an art show, but it was a fun experience. Im glad I had the opportunity to have a solo show, and that I could share it with you all.
One thing that’s important as an artist to remember about professional exhibitions is that we have to write artist statements. They can be one of the hardest things to do as an artist, especially because they always change. I’m including the artist statement I made for the exhibit so that you will get a better understanding of the art and so you learn a little bit about the art world.
So for those of you who noticed people wearing headphones in the video and in the pictures, I decided to share 1 of the audio pieces I made that they were listening to….. ( Note: This audio piece is most effective when heard through headphones)

If you noticed in the artist statement, I mentioned 2 contemporary artists that I have studied to help me with my work. I found a video collage of Whitfield Lovell‘s artworks that I know will give you a better idea of not only his work, but what about his work I take influence from.
