Quite possibly my favorite song off East Atlanta Love Letter, “Pretty Little Fears”, gets the visual treatment and it keeps in line with 6LACK’s general aesthetic – hazy, washed out, and subdued. It’s nothing special but it does the job of bringing out the song’s overall laid back vibes. I stumbled across R&B newcomer iyla by accident and I’m glad I did; she may not have a wide catalog of songs but everything she does have out there is certainly enjoyable. And while “Juice” shows her unique approach to R&B, the video for it shows off her unique visual style and artistic flare with striking imagery and bright colors. She’s one to keep an eye out for in the future. Joyner Lucas has been enjoying a large surge in popularity and general awareness as of late, thanks in large part to his noteworthy addition to Eminem’s latest, and he seems ready to put those new gains to the test with new music. “I Love” stays away from the gimmicks and it’s a banger of a track. The video keeps with his wild style with imagery that’s all over the place but it brings out the energy of the track well. Could be a legit hit for him.
If you haven’t heard “Sicko Mode” yet then you most likely wouldn’t be reading this post, as you clearly live under a rock, but Travis Scott finally hits us with official video for it. He’s really stepping things up on the video front and this might be his best one yet. It’s as surreal and trippy as anything he’s put out yet, it’s completely H-Town to it’s core, and the visual effects are top notch. He definitely breathed new life into the song after it’s very nearly been run into the ground. “Uproar” has easily been the most talked about song since Tha Carter V finally saw the light of day, mostly thanks to the now viral #uproarchallenge, and Lil Wayne has been smart enough to cash in on that wave with a video that’s essentially a montage of various famous and not so famous people taking part in the dance craze. Definitely a dope look for the culture.
